Glycospheres are a delivery system that provides protection and enhanced stability of both hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients.
Glycospheres consist of supramolecular configurations that are organised around a solid inner core. The inner core is made of hydrophilic, modified starch. The core contains cationic groups making Glycospheres an ideal system for anionic, hydrophilic actives. Macromolecules such as enzymes (up to 200,000 Daltons) can be entrapped within the inner core. The core is coated with a lipophilic layer of fatty acids; therefore, Glycospheres can also entrap and deliver lipophilic ingredients.
