Avobenzone is a chemical UVA filter that is susceptible to crystallisation and also has poor compatibility with metal oxides such as Alumina (the most common coating for Titanium Dioxide) and poor photo-stability. Hybrid AB solves these issues by encapsulating Avobenzone inside a polymer microsphere. This protects the Avobenzone and helps to improve compatibility and photo-stability.
Hybrid AB can be dispersed in the aqueous phase of emulsions, allowing for the creation of oil-in-water sun care formulations with a light texture. Hybrid AB can be used to improve the UVA protection of formulations since it can be added to the aqueous phase of formulations that also contain traditional Avobenzone in the oil phase.
