Mangalidone
Mangalidone is the Manganese salt of L-PCA. Mangalidone can stimulate the synthesis of Manganese Superoxide Dismutase expression (an enzyme that protects the skin against free radicals).
UCIB (part of The Solabia Group) specialises in the research and development of innovative chemical active ingredients, and is particularly strong in the area of L-PCA (L-Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid) and its derivatives. L-PCA is part of the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) and has moisturising and hydrating properties. L-PCA is obtained by the cyclisation of the L-Glutamic Acid, an amino acid of plant origin. Derivatives of L-PCA also have other benefits.
Mangalidone is the Manganese salt of L-PCA. Manganese is a trace element that acts at the cellular level at a very low concentration. It is essential for the production of melanin and fatty acids, as well as SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) activity, an enzyme that protects the skin against free radicals, located in mitochondria. Mangalidone, a combination of Manganese and L-PCA, can stimulate the synthesis of Mn-SO-specific mRNA (preventive and curative effect) and can also help to fight against oxidative stress via an anti-radical effect.
