Matilook

Matilook is an active ingredient obtained by hydroglycerinated extraction of Quince Leaves (Cydonia oblonga) which has astringent properties. It is recommended for use in formulations to revitalise the appearance of oily skin by refining the skin texture and limiting skin shine.

The appearance of oily skin can be enhanced by using astringent and mattifying products to minimise pores and keep skin shine at bay. To treat this problem, Solabia has studied the "Golden Apple Tree of Cydonia", or quince tree, the fruit of which is well-known for its astringency. This tree with its precious fruit from the Garden of the Hesperides spans thousands of years. Nowadays it is cultivated in Europe and owes its name to the region of Crete, which is home to the most popular variety: the region of Kydonia, formerly known as Cydonia. However, Solabia's researchers focused their attention on the leaves due to their molecular wealth that gives them astringent powers far superior to those of the fruit (patent pending).
