Skin-Tonic HighPurity is a hydroglycolic extract of Juniper Berries for reducing oily skin and helping to get rid of spots. In plant therapy, Juniper has been known ever since Antiquity for its diuretic and antiseptic properties. The Egyptians used it to treat infections and to purify bodies before embalming them. Caton the Ancient (Marcus Porcius, a Roman politician, 234-149 Av. J.C.) in his Agriculture treaty entitled, “De re rustica” recommended the use of its berries to make a wine “to generate urine”. In traditional medicine, the berries are used in herbal teas to cleanse burns, scorched skin and minor wounds. The essence of juniper, which is obtained by steam distillation, promotes (stomachic) digestion, stimulates the irrigation of the blood and tones the tissues. It is widely used in aromatherapy to relax tension, especially combined with lavender (Lavandula officinalis) and Hyssops (Hyssopus officinalis).
