Blue Shield

Active ingredient obtained from French Red Bell Peppers which protects against the effects of blue light on skin.

BlueShield contains an extract from French Red Bell Peppers which are high in carotenoids - natural molecules which are able to filter blue light. Blue light induces oxidation and inflammation and therefore contributes to accelerated aging of skin. BlueShield protects the skin from these effects in two ways:   

• Acting as an antioxidant to prevent alteration of DNA, which can cause abnormalities in cell function. This is indicated by a decrease in 8-OHdG, an indicator of DNA oxidation.
• Preventing overexpression of opsins, which convert blue light into cellular response, particularly pigmentation.
