BPA-5I5
BPA-5I5 is a polymer microsphere that has been surface treated with Kobo's patented ITT treatment. BPA-5I5 has an average particle size of 9 microns and oil absorption 50 g/100g.
Due to their size and shape, microspheres offer a ball-bearing effect which imparts a silky texture, increased pay-off and enhanced slip. The ITT treatment forms a uniform coating of lipophilic isostearate groups, which greatly improves the dispersibility of powders in various organic vehicles such as esters, natural oils and hydrocarbons. ITT treatment reduces oil absorption of powders so they can be used at substantially higher loading in formulations without causing a dramatic viscosity increase. ITT treatment has good skin affinity due to the isostearate surface groups, making the treated powders suitable for use in non-greasy cream-to-powders, lipsticks, liquid foundations, eye shadows, sun care formulations, etc.
