Silica Shells-SH are hollow ellipsoids of highly porous Silica that have been surface treated with Kobo's NS (Methoxy Amodimethicone/Silsesquioxane Copolymer) treatment. The average particle size is 3 microns. Silica Shells-SH can absorb up to 5 times their own weight (oil absorption 500 g/100g). Silica Shells-SH can be preloaded with volatile liquids to prevent absorption of formulation ingredients; the volatile material evaporates when applied on the skin, leaving Silica Shells-SH empty and available to absorb sebum.
